Sensory-friendly playtimes create an inclusive environment for children with sensory processing challenges, such as those with autism spectrum disorders or sensory sensitivities. It allows them to enjoy the museum experience without feeling overwhelmed by as many sensory stimuli.
What accommodations are made for a Sensory Friendly playtime? We reduce the number of children allowed to sign up for a Sensory Friendly event to a maximum of 12 children. Lights are dimmed and music is NOT playing. Exhibits that makes continual noise are turned off for a majority of the event unless a child in attendance desires to interact with the exhibit. Lastly, a calming tent is provided in the event that a child needs a dark, quiet spot to calm down.
- Admission is $25+ tax per child ages 1-8. Children younger than 1 and 9+ are free IF accompanied by a paying sibling.
- We are a shoe-free, sock-only facility. Please remember to bring socks. We have socks available for purchase if desired.
- We have fun crafts for additional cost ranging from $4-$20! Add them on when you reserve your spot online, or purchase when you come play!

Session times are a scheduled 90 minutes. We do not allow any food in the play area....be sure to fill up your little one's belly before you arrive!
Each child that plays at Play Street Museum South Loop needs to have a completed one time waiver to participate. Parents can fill out the waiver in advance through this link, or they are welcome to fill out a waiver upon arrival. Once you fill this waiver out once you do not need to fill it out again. Please note that we require all minors (under 18) to have a waiver on file whether they are playing or not.
